Take Flight Into Scouting

The Lincoln Trails Council is gearing up for Fall Recruitment with a special "Take Flight Into Scouting" event this fall! All newly registered Cub Scouts (Kindergarten-5th Grade) and the current Scout that recruited them are invited to attend this exciting "Take Flight" event on Saturday, September 30th or Sunday, October 1st from 2:00-4:00pm. Each district will be hosting an event where the boys will get to come and build an airplane!

Saturday, September 30th from 2-4pm

Two Rivers - Serving Christian, Effingham, Fayette, Moultrie, and Shelby Counties
Percival Springs Airport, Watson, 2:00-4:00 pm
Activities: scouts assemble gliders, fly gliders for height, distance, accuracy (flight test), speak to pilots, view Air Evac helicopter (if possible), Cessna (if possible), crop duster (if possible), scouts fly cardboard box (plane) through flight course, have a parent/youth challenge at each station, upon completion of activities, scouts earn their “pilot’s license” and tour the facility.

Sunday, October 1st from 2-4pm

Railsplitter - Serving Macon and Piatt Counties
Macon County Historical Museum (North Fork Road), 2:00-4:00 pm
Activities: scouts assemble gliders, fly gliders for height, distance, accuracy (flight test), upon completion of activities, scouts earn their “pilot’s license” and tour the museum.

Redhawk - Serving Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Edgar, and Jasper Counties (Download flyer here)
Coles County Airport, between Mattoon and Charleston, 2:00-4:00 pm
Activities: scouts assemble gliders, fly gliders for height, distance, accuracy (flight test), speak to pilots, view Life Flight helicopter, Cessna, tour hangar, scouts fly cardboard box (plane) through flight course, have a parent/youth challenge at each station, upon completion of activities, scouts earn their “pilot’s license” and tour the facility.
